Review: I’M SCREAMING. What is this ending? I swear to god if I had to wait for the 3rd book I would tear my head off.
After reading Illuminae, I really wasn’t sure whether I was interested in finishing the series, but WOW am I happy I decided to pick up the second book. I forgot how intense the plot is in this trilogy. Somehow being told through chats and video transcripts takes nothing away from the drama or description. It even seems to build anticipation for what’s to come next.
Through all the pain, sacrifice, and exhaustion that characters are going through, they somehow manage to be sarcastic and clever. They never miss a beat when pulling a joke or making a witty comeback. Maybe not exactly realistic considering their circumstances, but definitely an entertaining read.
I need to get my hands on a copy of Obsidio ASAP. I’m seriously hooked on these characters and need to find out what happens next.
Bottomline: If you’re into science fiction novels written in a unique perspective, this is the series for you. Start off with the first in the series, Illuminae, and once you’ve been sucked into this universe, move on to Gemina. A new band of characters keeps the story fresh and interesting, while the writing style and ridiculous (yet fun) storyline stay relatively familiar.
