2020 Most Anticipated Reads

Come Tumbling Down | Seanan McGuire

I think I can safely say at this point that Seanan McGuire is one of my all-time favorite authors and I will forever read their work. Need I say more?

Dark and Deepest Red | Anna-Marie McLemore

I’m currently in the middle of this one and am already loving it. They write in such a beautifully haunting manner that is the perfect mix of terrible and fairy tale (one and the same?) I haven’t read all their work yet, but I’m working on it rn

Woven in Moonlight | Isabel Ibanez

The most beautiful cover of the year thus far? 100% I don’t know anything more than it is YA fantasy and I want to read it asap

Tweet Cute | Emma Lord

I’ve heard so many good things about this book recently!! YA contemporary romance gets me everything and based on the buzz, this one will be no different

House of Earth and Blood | Sarah J Maas

I will not be ashamed of my sjm loving basic-ness!! In actuality, I have yet to read ACOTAR but I am excited for this nontheless

Loveless | Alice Oseman

I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this book! I love everything she does.

The Burning God | RF Kuang

Not sure if I’m more excited or more terrified to read this one. I know she’s not gonna hold back when it comes to my bbs and there’s literally no way all of them are going to survive this book

Empire of the Vampire | Jay Kristoff

2019 was the year I discovered Nevernight, and I will forever be changed. I really don’t think I could be more excited for this series. An adult vampire series written by Jay Kristoff is maybe all I could ask for.

Beach Read | Emily Henry

I already have a copy of this one and I am physically holding myself back from reading it immediately. An adult romance from my fave?? Yes, pls.

Girl Gone Viral | Alisha Rai

I loved the first book in this series, and I can’t wait to move onto the next. Ngl I do not remember who this book follows, but I’m excited to jump back into her writing!

Not That Kind of Guy | Andie Christopher

Another romance series sequel! Loved the first one, am expecting to fall for the second just the same.

Foul is Fair | Hannah Capin

I recently found out that this is a Macbeth retelling? I’m 100% sure it is shakespeare inspired, but I’m losing confidence on which one. We’ll stick with Macbeth. I was already excited to read it, but even more so now

The Midnight Lie | Marie Rutkoski

The read the Winner’s Curse trilogy for the first time in 2019 and absolutely fell in love. Just my luck a companion story is coming out this year! I’ve hear this is a bit more magical and a lot more queer. Bring. It. on.

The Hand on the Wall | Maureen Johnson

The last book in an amazing mystery series. I haven’t liked a YA mystery in a LONG time (if ever??) and this series really took it for me. I hope the ending is as satisfying as I imagine

The Silence of Bones | June Hur

This is a historical mystery set in Joseon-era Korea (YA BOI) That’s literally all I need to know. I am PUMPED

The Unwilling | Kelly Braffet

I heard about this book when I went to the book event for Erin Morgenstern’s The Starless Sea. Kelly introduced her book to us and did she SELL IT! Based on her introduction, the official synopsis does not do it justice.

The Glass Hotel | Emily St John Mandel

Have I read Station Eleven yet? No! Am I still pumped for this new book? OF COURSE! I have no idea what this is about, but I’m still going to read it. After I read Station Eleven, of course.

The City We Became | NK Jemisin

I’m embarrassed to say I have yet to read anything from NK Jemisin, but it is true. I plan to rectify that this year (leggo broken earth) and also fit this new book in there somewhere

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue | VE Schwab

If you follow VE Schwab on twitter you also understand how long I have been waiting for this book. It is about a girl loving?hating?selling her soul to? the devil. Amazing. Perfect. Yes.

The King of Crows | Libba Bray

The last book in the diviners series. Did not love the end of the previous book, but I still have high hopes for this one. Please end this amazing story on a bang!

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor | Hank Green

The first book in this series blew me away. I did not have super high expectations, but boy oh boy, it was good. So excited to learn more about this world and see what happens next.

The Devil and the Dark Water | Stuart Turton

I read the 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in 2019 and loved the entire thing up to the ending. Loved the writing, the plot, the mystery. All but the end. I’m hoping this one will be amazing all the way through – PLS!

You Are Not Alone | Greer Hendrinks & Sarah Pekkanen

The more books by them I read, the more I like their style. I don’t know the plot of this and thats exactly how I like to enter my thrillers.

The Bride Bet | Tessa Dare

Read the first three books in this series at the end of 2019/beginning on 2020 and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Let’s go 4 for 4!

A Rogue of One’s Own | Evie Dunmore

I’m pretty sure the first book in this series was the first historical romance I’ve ever actually read. And then I fell in love with them. I really hope this second book in the series is just as enthralling as the first

Horrid | Katrina Leno

Literally no idea what this book is about (but pls go look at the cover be OMG) I’ve only heard amazing things about her writing and the cover is so beautiful I could die

Elatsoe | Darcie Little Badger

The only thing I know about this book is its queer YA fantasy with roots in indigenous culture. Yes yes and yes.

Omg so many of these are also on my list. Here I thought I could use 2020 to clear some books from my backlist…but all these new titles are going to just obliterate those efforts 😭
