15 Popular Book Series I Can’t Believe I (Still) Haven’t Read Yet

So, I like to think that I stay on top of the hot book news. However, there are only so many hours in the day, and that means only so many hours to read. Have I known about these series for years? Yes. Have I been putting them off in the fear I will not enjoy them? Also yes.

Highly regarded books just means high chance of me being disappointed!! Hence why all of these series are still sitting on this list rather than being read by me. But!! I will get to them. I can only take so many close calls with spoilers on twitter before I cave.

If you’ve read any of these series and recommend that I read them asap please let me know. And if, like me, you too have been putting them off… buddy read? lol

Percy Jackson and the Olympians | Rick Riordon

Somehow I missed this huge phase when I was younger. I watched the movie and absolutely loved it *cough* Logan Lerman *cough*. And with the new series coming out I feel like I really need to finally get up and read it!! I’ve really only heard good things. I love Greek Mythology. Love a good coming of age fantasy story. Like??? Why the heck haven’t I read it yet!

Scythe | Neal Shusterman

I feel like this series was really big a few years ago. I never got around to reading it with all the other books coming out at the time, and I really feel like I missed out! I know it involves a society where people no longer die, so there are grim reapers who go around killing ppl??? for population control?? I could definitely be wrong, but I think that’s the general premise. No idea what else happens. I am very intrigued.

Shatter Me | Tahereh Mafi

I’ve seen this ship too many times to count on twitter and tiktok and i am SICK!!! of not understanding the hype. I want to be a simp for warner like all the rest of you weirdos!! Despite this series being such a hit for so long I really don’t know much about it lol. I’m p sure our girl Juliette has some dangerous power?? and that is all.

Lux | Jennifer L Armentrout

I wasn’t a big JLA fan until I read From Blood and Ash last year. Based on how much I was obsessed with that series, I feel like it’s only fair I give her backlist a try. I remember this series being IT when I was younger and somehow I never got around to reading it. I’m really hoping it will hit the same as FBAA.

Daughter of Smoke & Bone | Laini Taylor

Another hyped series I know nothing about and never got around to reading. I have some friends who truly love this series though, and I feel like it would be a disservice to not read it. I did really enjoy her other series Strange the Dreamer, so I would not be surprised if I also love this one!

The Remnant Chronicles | Mary E. Pearson

Okay. So, I just finished (like, today) her other series Dance of Thieves. And I know I most definitely read them out of order considering I’m p sure there were a few cameo’s from this series, I must read it now!!! I loved Dance of Thieves so much. The writing. The setting. Everything. Knowing this series lives in the same universe has me sold. I’m p sure this is also a enemies to lovers situation?? I could be wrong. But ugh. I already know I’m going to be obsessed

These Hollow Vows | Lexi Ryan

So I’ve heard quite a bit of hype about this series on TikTok. And that’s kind of it lol. I have no idea what it’s about. At all. Not even a hint of a plot or a trope lives inside my head. The cover looks sick though, and whoever I saw talking about it on TikTok had similar taste to me… so call me hooked!

The Kingkiller Chronicle | Patrick Rothfuss

I feel like if you’re in the fantasy reading game, you most definitely have already heard about this series. I can’t decide if I want to wait until we know we’re getting another book in the series…. lol. But for real! Who knows! I’ve had a few friends read this and love this, so I’m definitely going to make it happen. Someday.

Mistborn | Brandon Sanderson

And so we’ve gotten to Brandon Sanderson. Tbh I have never read anything by him. I don’t know much about his books. His writing style. etc. I just know people who have read him are obsessed with him. Maybe I’ll just take a month and only read his books lol. Really go full in

The Stormlight Archive | Brandon Sanderson

Another series by Mr. Sanderson. Also no idea what it’s about. Will just dive in head first and hope that I fall in love!

The Shadow of the Wind | Carlos Ruiz Zafón

I’m pretty sure this book has to do with books. Which I love. Books about books is one of my favorite genres. I know this is on many “books you should read before you die” lists and thus I plan to do so.

Red Rising | Pierce Brown

Here is another series that was all the rage a few years ago. Again, I have no idea what the plot is about. I’m so sorry if you’ve come here wondering why I want to read these books. I have no answer for you besides the fact that like 10 people were talking about it in 2018. That’s all I’ve got.

Southern Reach | Jeff VanderMeer

Some horror!!! With plants!!! I really want to watch the movie, but I refuse to do so until after reading the book. And I do love me some weird horror, which I’m pretty sure is exactly what this series is. Scary plants on a foreign planet. Let’s gooooo!

The Broken Earth | N.K. Jemisin

I did try to read this series once, but my brain just wasn’t on board. I will read it though. I’ve only heard good things about this series and I refuse to be left behind!!! I think this is dystopian?? It’s sad that I literally already read part of the first one and still have no recollection of the plot lmfao

Remembrance of Earth’s Past | Liu Cixin

Aliens????? I’m pretty sure this is about aliens. And science. It is very well-loved and I trust people to be right when they like a book. Most of the time, anyway. So… I will be reading this and hopefully loving this. I haven’t read a new sci-fi that I loved in awhile and I’m crossing my fingers this will be the one!
