The Most Anticipated Book Releases of 2025

This year is big for book releases. I’m mostly tuned into the romance and fantasy spaces, and I’m telling you; we are getting fed this year. My most anticipated book releases of 2025 include some of my favorite authors in addition to a few debut authors that I’m excited to try. These being notable Dramione fanfiction authors delving into the world of trade publishing. If you’re unfamiliar with the world of Dramione (Draco + Hermione pairing), girl you have a lot to catch up on.

I hope to read the below books the moment they come out, but realistically my mood-reading tendencies will end up dictating my reading schedule lmao. Regardless, they will all (hopefully) be getting five stars from me. (we can dream lol)

Deep End | Ali Hazelwood

Release Date: February 4th

My girl Ali Hazelwood is coming out with a sports romance in 2025. Did not expect this one. I guess she did throw a kind of curveball last year with her pseudo-omegaverse book, so maybe this one is a bit tame in comparison lol. I have no idea what this is about besides it having to do with swimming. Obsessed with good sports romance (usually hockey, but swimming is also hot soooo I will 100% be picking this one up asap)

Rebel Witch | Kristen Ciccarelli

Release Date: February 18th

Ugh this book was so freaking good. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this one, and I can confirm it is even better than the first book in the series, Heartless Hunter. It’s been a while since I really got into a YA romance, and this one ticked off so many boxes for me. I may have even cried at the end???? This rarely happens these days which solidified its place as one of the most anticipated book releases of this year. If you’re into witches, witch hunters, and the enemies-to-lovers romance that happens between them, this is the one for you!

Gifted & Talented | Olivie Blake

Release Date: April 1st

Another book that I have no idea what it’s about, but I trust Olivie Blake to make it worthwhile. Alone With You in the Ether is one of my all-time favorite books, and I’m praying that this book is just as good. The cover looks amazing and is giving magical family that (possibly?) hates each other. I hope there is some juicy drama, and I know her beautiful writing will take center stage.

Enchantra | Kaylie Smith

Release Date: April 8th

Eeeeek Phastasma was one of my favorite reads last year, and I can’t freaking wait for this one to come out this spring! Inititally, I wasn’t that excited about this sequel as Ophelia’s sister Genevieve didn’t intrigue me that much in book one, but when I read the premise for Enchantra, I was freaking pumped. If you loved the movie Ready or Not, this is pretty much the same thing. Except it involves fake dating rather than a true marriage. I’m absolutely obsessed and will be reading this the moment it comes out.

Great Big Beautiful Life | Emily Henry

Release Date: April 22nd

My ultimate contemporary romance author, Emily Henry. This is at the top of the list of my most anticipated book releases. If you’re in the romance game I’d be surprised if you didn’t know this queen. I’ve read and loved pretty much everything she’s ever written (including her YA stuff). I have no idea what this one is about and, frankly, I don’t even care! I will be tuning it.

The Knight and the Moth | Rachel Gillig

Release Date: May 20th

As One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns were some of my favorite reads of 2024, you can be sure that this book was firmly placed on this list. This is another book that I have done zero research about. If it’s as beautiful and haunting as her two previous books, you can be assured that I will love it. This cover is already off to an amazing start, so bring it on, Rachel!!

The Listeners | Maggie Stiefvater

Release Date: June 3rd

We’re coming back to our roots this year! If you’ve ever read The Raven Boys, you’ll understand all the hype around this book. I’m pretty sure this book is Maggie Stiefvater’s adult debut, and I will be jumping on this book asap. From what I understand, this is a historical fiction involving some mystery and maybe also a little romance? Sounds sick. I’m in.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil | V.E. Schwab

Release Date: June 10th

After the success of The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, we were starved for more V.E. Schwab. I’m pumped for another adult release this year, and it looks like this one is yet again about immortality. However, this book follows three different women set in different time periods (??) There’s not much given about the plot of this one, which is exactly how I like it!

Rose in Chains | Julie Soto

Release Date: July 3rd

*Squeal* This book is for all my Dramione girlies out there! If you know about The Auction, you know why this book is such a big deal. (The original was already taken down of ao3, but you can still read the other two fics in the series!) Those three fics took over my life in 2024 and made me uncontrollably sob in my bed at 3 AM lmao. I’m crossing my fingers the story translates to outside of the Harry Potter world and will be just as deliciously addictive. The cover is stunning, and my silver-haired hero looks divine. I’m sat.

The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy | Brigette Knightly

Release Date: July 8th

Here’s another one for the Dramione girlies. (July is going to be a crazy month) I’m pretty sure this book is loosely based on those characters, but is not a direct rewrite of a specific fic. (Many people think this is Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being In Love, but it’s still up, so I don’t think so). Regardless, that fic was amazing, and I’m excited to read anything else she wants to write.

Alchemised | SenLinYu

Release Date: Autumn 2025

WOOF! This book is over 900 pages lmao. As she should be. Yes, this is yet again another Dramione-based fic. This one being the infamous Manacled by SenLinYu. Unfortunately, you can no longer read this one online, so unless you already have a copy you’re going to have to wait for this new version to come out. I’d most definitely recommend any of SenLinYu’s other fics, though! This is a haunting novel about loss and trauma and is most definitely not for the weak of heart. Many people say this is a dark romance, but the romance takes a back seat to the horrors of war in this one. This will have you sobbing iykyk

Katabasis | R.F. Kuang

Release Date: August 28th

Finally, my queen R.F. Kuang has another book coming out in 2025. This one is for my lit babes, and I’ve heard there’s quite the reading list to familiarize yourself with before diving in. While I can’t confirm I’ll be reading The Odyssey before picking this one up, I am excited to read a romance involving two academic rivals and their descent into the underworld. This is a clear front running on my most anticipated book releases of the year!
