So, you’ve finally decided to become a degen like the rest of us… What took you so long??? No, I’m just kidding lol. I don’t know what it is about monster romance, but I freaking love this stuff, man!! Some of the weirdest stuff I’ve ever read. And I absolutely love it! I will definitely say most of the below books surprised me with how sweet the plot was. They were scorching hot, don’t get me wrong. But these authors really know how to write a sweet romance to accompany the spice!!
I’m still making my way through my monster tbr, so I wouldn’t say this is a finalized list. And by all means, PLEASE recommend me any good monster romances you have read recently!
Hunger Duet | Aveda Vice
Alright. This is a duology that starts off with a spicy novella and ends with a very cute novel. I’m obsessed with this romance between a succubus and her moth fairy coworker. It is queer! It is hot! It is adorable!!! I will be reading anything she releases at this point <3
Souls Trilogy | Harley Laroux
If you’re a horror lover, 100% you need to read this series! Each book is about a different couple, but all of the love interests are demons. Hot hot demons!! It involves a creepy town and a cult and some weird ass sea god. (and a whole lot of smut) I will say these books are pretty dark, so please read the tw before diving in. They’re some of the spiciest books I read last year though, and I can’t freaking wait for the third book to finally come out this year!
Girls Weekend | C.M. Nascosta
Another trilogy(?) that I absolutely adore. This follows a group of elves as they travel to an Orc resort for a wild weekend away. They each have their own adventure. Find some hot orcs. Fall in love. Etc. I really never thought I’d enjoy an orc book, but here we are!! We’re also waiting for the next book to come out in the series and I’m just itching to get my hands on it!
Tempting Monsters | Kathryn Moon
My queen Kathryn Moon does it again! If anyone knows how to write a good poly romance, it’s her. These books are WILD! They are long. There is not a whole lot of plot going on. It’s definitely there, but I wouldn’t say it fills a majority of the text if you know what I mean. And yet, I love them. I think she writes some of the most creative monster species (??) Very original. Love! Another book in the series coming out next year.
Fighting Monsters | Sam Hall
Another expert at the queer poly romance book! We’ve got our mc who has been seeing (and feeling) monsters in her dreams for years. We find out why they’re there, who they actually are, and how their romance unfolds across these two books! If you’re a fan of Kathryn Moon, I’d definitely give these books a go.
Morning Glory Milking Farm | C.M. Nascosta
If you told me I’d be calling a book about a minotaur romantic, I’d say you were lying. But low and behold, this book was freaking cute. It was graphic as hell. But it was so sweeeeeet! I don’t know how she does it fam! I have yet to read the next book in the series, but I’m sure it will be the same. (and that one is about a freaking MOTH MAN!) Literal voodoo ppl. She’s a monster writing genius.
The Witch’s Wolves | Ellie Mae MacGregor
This is a little short queer poly romance between a slut shamed witch and two wolf-men she meets in the woods. It’s fun. It’s spicy. It’s very cute!! She somehow creates a believable love story in such a short amount of time. If you’re looking for an adult spicy version of little red riding hood, this is probably the best thing you’ll find.
Ice Planet Barbarians | Ruby Dixon
What kind of monster romance list would this be if I didn’t include the blue alien boys!! If you’re in the romance world, I’m sure you’ve already heard about this series. I’m sorry to say all the rumors are true. They’re actually so freaking good! I remember reading the first book for a laugh, but then actually getting totally sucked in. They’re surprisingly deep despite their short page length and full of the perfect mix of sweetness and spice. Run don’t walk!! You won’t regret it.
[taking series names down as notes] mmhmm these are all….good to know for future reasons. sidenote — do you happen to have werewolf recs at all?
Ahhh actually I don’t think I’ve ever read a werewolf romance somehow??? CM Nascosta has a werewolf book coming out this august in her Cambric Creek series that I def want to get to tho! It’s called the Moon Blooded Breeding Clinic
thank you, thank youuuuu~~
