June TBR 2018 | All The Books I Want To Read This Month!

I read so many amazing books in May that I’m a little intimidated to choose a June TBR that will live up to those expectations. But, alas, I will try!

I have quite the ambitious TBR for this June, and it’s full of books I’ve wanted to read for a long while and a few that have either just come out or are still on there way.

I’ve got a pretty diverse bunch in terms of genre and tone, so hopefully I’m able to stick to this TBR this month. Most likely, this whole list will get thrown out the window and come my June wrap up you’ll be looking at a very different list.

Here are all of (probably) the books I want to get to this June!

Little Fires Everywhere | Celeste NG

Technically, I already started this book last month but I just could not concetrate at all while reading the first couple of pages so I put it down.

Truthfully, I have absolutely no idea what this book is about besides that it’s about a community and something happens to stir up some drama. Possibly? Also, I know from the first page that there is a fire.

Although I know basically nothing about this book, I absolutely loved Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, so I’m sure I will feel the same about this one. It’s gotten rave reviews from basically everyone on planet earth and I’ve decided to trust them.

Children of Blood and Bone | Tomi Adeyemi

Another book that has gotten nothing but amazing reviews is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Yet again, I know little to nothing about this book and I want to keep it that way until I start it.

I know Adeyemi said she used Avatar: The Last Airbender as well as An Ember In The Ashes as inspiration for this book, and being some of my favorite fantasy stories of all time, I’m so so in.

Mostly, I’m just surprised it’s taken me so long to jump on this hype bandwagon.

Vicious | V.E. Schwab

Oh, V.E. Schwab, do I love you so. The Shades of Magic series is one of my all-time favorite fantasy series, and I seriously hope this (now) series will also join it in the ranks of my favorites.

I know this series is a little more dark, a little more morally gray, and a little more evil in general.

I’ve started this book already, and after reading a couple chapters, I can already tell the characters in this book are gonna have me questioning their every motive.

I don’t know who to trust. I don’t know who’s good, who’s bad. I guess we will just have to see.

War Storm | Victoria Aveyard

Finally, the conclusion to Red Queen! So, I’m not gonna lie. I got swept up in the Red Queen hype, but as I reflect back on those short few days when I marathoned the first three books in the series, I basically remember nothing about the books. lmao.

I’m not even kidding. I had to google plot synopses for all three of the books because I couldn’t remember most of the things that went down.

I’m excited to read this book mostly because I can’t even imagine reading three out of four books in a series and just giving up. I refuse! Also, I am really curious to see how it all plays out. Will they all survive? Will they all make up and become best friends? Only one way to find out…

Leah on the Offbeat | Becky Albertalli

This is a book I’m confident that I will finish in one sitting. Probably in under five hours. I am so hyped for this book I’ve been putting it off to delay finishing it and being sad that it’s over.

If you are familiar with Simon vs. The Homosapien’s Agenda, you’ll know the titular Leah from Leah on the Offbeat is Simon’s best friend.

I really loved her in Simon, but definitely thought she could have used some more screen time. That’s why I’m so excited she got her own full, amazing book! Woo Leah!!

Only Human | Sylvain Neuvel

Another final book in a series I’m attemping to read this month is Only Human. So, I haven’t heard the best things about this book so far, but I’m not going to let those reviews skew my opinion.

I really love this series, and I want this book to give the characters all they deserve!

If you don’t know, the Sleeping Giants series is a sci-fi series written through transcripts and documents. In the first book, they find this huge hand in the ground and no one know how or when it got there.

The rest of the book follows this group of scientists as they go searching for more pieces and try to figure out what these huge hunks of metal are and who put them there.

Lucky In Love | Kasie West

Oh, my contemporary queen, Kasie West. So, I’ve given a lot of Kasie West novels three stars, but for some reason that never deters me from reading more of her books.

There’s just something so fitting about reading a bubby, cute YA romance in summer that I will never get sick of.

I think this book has something to do with the main character winning the lottery? I’m pretty sure. That’s all I know, and I can’t wait to sit on a sunny patio somewhere drinking an iced latte and speed through this book.

Six Of Crows | Leigh Bardugo

Earlier this year I read the Grisha Trilogy in preparation for Six of Crows. Everyone says this duology is a million times better, so I have pretty high expectations.

I know this book lives in the same world as the Grisha series and that it has something to do with a heist. I’m pretty sure the characters are criminals? or “criminals”. We’ll see.

I’m so excited to read this, but it’s another book that I know when I finish it I’m going to be sad that it’s over.

A Reaper At The Gates | Sabaa Tahir

Wow, I’ve got a lot of sequels on this list. I just read An Ember in the Ashes and  A Torch Against the Night in May, and I am so freaking lucky that A Reaper at the Gates is coming out so soon.

I seriously don’t know what I would do if I had to wait any longer.

This is probably one of my most favorite fantasy series of all time, and I can’t wait to see where she takes these characters in this next book.

Listen To Your Heart | Kasie West

Why yes, I do have another Kasie West book on this list. No, I am not ashamed. I will use this sunny June weather to speed through as many cute contemporaries as I can.

So, the main reason I’m adding this book to my June TBR is because I was able to grab a copy while at BookCon. I was able to meet Kasie and get a signed copy of the book which was amazing.

I have no idea what this book is about, but I’m very excited to read it nonetheless.
