5 Audiobooks to Listen to While Spring Cleaning

I first fell in love with audiobooks when I worked at my first office job and only had to use 1/4 of my brain to actually complete my job. The other 3/4, I decided, were better spent reading. The ideal way to read a book while not showing everyone around me that I was indeed reading a book was to download an audiobook.

Since that fateful day, I now listen to audiobooks nearly every moment possible. While working, on my commute, making dinner. Wherever it is convenient (because it is so convenient!) If you’re planning on getting your spring cleaning on this April, I would highly recommend listening to any of the below books and/or series. They all have fantastic narrators (a high compliment coming from me who has very particular tastes in audiobook narrators) and excellent production quality. There are obviously more great audiobooks that those listed below, but these are my top picks.

Thank you so much to Amanda @ Between The Shelves for creating this prompt! You can find her original post here. This is going to be my last post for Bookending Spring *cries* and it was actually so much fun participating! I loved reading everyone’s posts and Tidyathon actually gave me the motivation to overall some of my older blog posts and my nightmare of a Goodreads TBR. If you want to see what all has happening this month head over to @bookend_events on twitter and find out all about the event and the hosts here.

1. Daisy Jones & The Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid

If you haven’t yet heard about this book, is it possible you have been living under a rock for the past few months? This book blew up in the book community, and for good reason. The audiobook is phenomenal and 100% worth a read. I advise you to read it and read it now.

2. An Absolutely Remarkable Thing | Hank Green

This was a surprising favorite audiobook for me. I haven’t heard anyone speak about the audiobook version specifically, but I immediately fell in love. It moves the story along and feels very genuine as the story is told in first person. It sounds exactly like the main character is telling you their story. p.s. love hank green.

3. Harry Potter | J.K. Rowling

If you are ever feeling down/uninspired/sick/etc please read these audiobooks. I don’t know if it’s because I used to listen to these audiobooks as a child, but they give me nostalgia vibes even harder than reading the physical books do. It’s also a very chill reading experience because (presumably) you already know the story well and don’t have to worry about missing anything imperative to the plot.

4. The Illuminae Files | Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

AHHHHH these audiobooks are works of art. They feature a full cast, sound effects and even some original music. I’m currently reading Gemina while also flipping along with the physical copy and it is a reading experience like no other. If you’ve already read them physically, I 100% recommend to give them another read on audiobook.

5. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue | Mackenzi Lee

This is such a fun book and the narrator delivers the story in a way that only supplements the comedy. He has the perfect lazy and bored aristocratic tone throughout the book and delivers the jokes seamlessly.
