I’m very excited about all of these books! | The Reading Rush and July 2019 TBR

We’re already nearly two full weeks into July, but I’ve decided to make this tbr post regardless!!! Not gonna lie, I’ve already begun and finished like 3 books this month lol. I really don’t have a clear idea what I want to read for the rest of the month as I’m not planning on participating in a bunch of different readathons—just the Reading Rush (formally known as BookTubeAthon).

Darkdawn | Jay Kristoff

I was lucky enough to get an eARC of this book, and I’m finally caught up with the series. SO this is the month I read this book and finish the Nevernight Chronicle. I am both very excited and very terrified bc I’m expecting many laughs and many deaths.

When the Sky Fell on Splendor | Emily Henry

I’ve been meaning to read this book for months, and as I’ve finally gotten my hold from the library, this seems like the perfect time. I’ve only read one Emily Henry in the past, but it was one of my favorite books e v e r. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about this one, but I’m hoping I will fall in love with it.

Once & Future | Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy

I was meant to read this book last month and just never got to it. I’ve very excited because I’ve heard a bunch of good things re: diverse cast, lots of queer characters and sci-fi craziness. Sign me up!

The Merciful Crow | Margaret Owen

Here is a book I know almost nothing about besides the fact that people are obsessed with it. I’ve had this arc for a bit now, and as this one comes out this month, what a better time to read it than now. I’m pretty sure it’s some type of dark fantasy and that’s pretty much all I need to know to be interested in reading something

For the last week of the month-ish I decided to participate in The Reading Rush! And by participate I mean just reading books that fit the prompts. Please see below for all the books I’m planning on reading from July 22-28.

A book with purple on the cover

Hello Girls | Brittany Cavallaro and Emily Henry

I love both of these authors and I am very excited to read this book about two girls on the run. I’m obsessed with friendship books and I’m pretty sure this thing has a LOT of that.

Read a book in one location

A book you meant to read in 2018

The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories | Ken Liu

I got this book from BookOutlet last year (the beginning of last year, mind you) and still have not even attempted to read it. I know it is a short story collection based in sci-fi and I love both of those things. I’m sure it will be amazing, and I can’t wait to give it a try!

Read an author’s debut novel

The Weight of Feathers | Anna-Marie McLemore

I am fully o b s e s s e d with Anna-Marie’s writing—like many book ppl—and yet have only read one of her books. (I know! Shame!) I recently bought this one, and can’t wait to give it a read.

Read a book with a non-human main character

Wicked Fox | Kat Cho

I’m currently waiting on this hold from the library and I’m furiously crossing my fingers hoping that it will come in in time for this readathon. If you don’t already know, the main character of this book is a girl who is a gumiho (nine-tailed fox in Korean mythology) and is set in modern Seoul. I’m obsessed with Korea ( I lived there for 2 years) and have been dying to read a YA book set there. You could say I’m HYPED

A book with 5 or more words in the title

A book to movie adaptation

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire/Order of the Phoenix

I’m currently on a Harry Potter audiobook binge, so I really don’t know which book I will be at during the time of this readathon, but I’m going to guess it will either be 4 or 5 (or both) I haven’t reread the series in about 3 years, so I am having a GREAT time. The audiobooks are amazing, so if you haven’t tried them yet I would 100% recommend.
